Man Shot and Killed by Police in Milwaukee

Suspect Allegedly Armed with Knife

A man was shot and killed by Milwaukee police officers on Tuesday, January 24, after he allegedly threatened officers with a knife. The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 PM in the 1200 block of West Sherman Avenue.

According to a press release from the Milwaukee Police Department, officers responded to a call about a man armed with a knife who was threatening people in the street. When officers arrived on the scene, they attempted to make contact with the suspect, who was identified as a 32-year-old Milwaukee resident. The suspect refused to comply with officers' commands and allegedly brandished a knife.

The suspect then lunged at one of the officers with the knife, police said. The officer discharged his weapon, striking the suspect multiple times. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

No officers were injured in the incident. The Wisconsin Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the shooting.
